Jen and Sean's wedding unfolded on a warm, sunny day at Santa Maria Winery in Carroll, IA. Their ceremony took place on the winery's beautiful shaded patio and their reception followed inside. Carroll's historic downtown was very photogenic and served as the perfect backdrop for wedding day adventures. Jen and Sean first met in Ballroom Dance Club at Iowa State so it was no surprise that the evening's dancing was quite the spectacle. (Jen and Sean were the fantastic instructors at the Ballroom Dance Class held last Spring at our studio) Their dollar dance was no exception since many of the guests and wedding party had ties to the ballroom club too. One bridesmaid exclaimed: "Dancing with Sean makes you feel like a princess!" Sean announced that he would dance with anyone who paid and knew a part, male or female, so many of his groomsmen took him up on this offer and entertained the delighted guests. Before the evening ended we were able to sneak Jen and Sean to the basement for a good night portrait with wine barrels. It has been a blessing getting to know this couple and we hope you enjoy this glimpse at their wedding day:
We recently had the opportunity to work with The Anytime, a club rock band hailing from Ames (right in our own backyard)! Check them out on facebook to hear their tunes and tell them how great their hair is! We photographed album art and promo images for their new album, Crave (which you can download in iTunes here). The photoshoot was groovy and the dudes were fun to hang out with. Shout out to Victoria Harding for assisting me on this one (check out her 365 blog full of goodness)! Here are a few of our favorite images from the shoot (everything shot at our studio):
For a garden party style wedding we just loved LibAllen Floral's vision. Her warm color choices were spot on, complementing both the deep fuchsia bridesmaid dresses and the chartreuse tones the grass gives out in mid–July. The hanging flower pots lining the isle were breathtaking and later doubled as the center pieces for the reception...brilliant. (LibAllen Floral is located in Des Moines. Elle and Adam's wedding was a truly romantic occasion. Having spent much of their engagement apart (Adam was in the service), there was a lot of emotional buildup from both the couple and their families. The design of the wedding was modern and dramatically romantic in black and white with red accents. The couple's vibe was contagious and magic happened when Elle and Adam looked into one anothers eyes. Their sunset ceremony unfolded beautifully at the Des Moines Rose Garden in Greenwood Park (Des Moines, IA) with reception following at the Embassy Suites on the River. Elle is sassy and her strong sense of style was apparent in everything from the programs to the reception centerpieces. She even had her dress custom designed. Many of our favorite images from the day (below) emphasize her & Adam's style and a few of the details from the day. Enjoy!
