Linda & Jon (married)

Linda and Jon were rainy day troopers! It poured most of the morning during portraits, but we were able to find sanctuary under umbrellas as well as in our studio. We're thankful for their great attitudes so we could still take great portraits of them! Rain is no match for great chemistry, which Linda and Jon have in spades. Their ceremony took place at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church in Madrid with reception following at the beautiful new ISU Alumni Building. We took a party bus cruise with the wedding party while the guests enjoyed cocktails. The rain cleared up so we could make a stop on Iowa State's campus, where Linda and Jon first met, to burn off some energy and take some fun photos (see below). At the reception Linda decorated every detail with gorgeous shades of pink, creating a beautifully modern floral ambiance. Overall the day was a blast and we're honored we got to be a part of it. Long live Linda and Jon!

Lissy & Daniel (married)

Lissy and Daniel's wedding day unfolded at First Baptist Church, a beautiful venue with great architecture in Ames, IA. The DIY decor was bursting with bright colors and charm, very much an extension of Lissy and Daniel's fun-loving personalities. Everything from the flowers to their post-ceremony balloon exit (brilliant, see below) was playfully vibrant. The reception (held in the basement following the ceremony) even had centerpieces with live goldfish swimming around in them! Their pastor's message was very personal, filled with both great Godly insight and loads of laughter - during the vows he accidentally said "Do you Lissy take Daniel to be your wife?" It was an occasion that you couldn't witness without smiling from ear to ear. We had a ton of fun being a part of this occasion and we wish Lissy and Daniel enormous joy in their new life together.

Heidi & Neal (married)

Heidi and Neal's pastor summed it up perfectly when he said "the wetter the rope, the tighter the knot" during their wedding ceremony at Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church in Swedesburg, IA. Their day rained without ceasing from dawn till dusk, but nobody let it ruin the fun. Special thanks to Heidi, Neal and the entire wedding party for braving the drizzle and letting us take photos outdoors – it was a blast! To add sentiment to the occasion, Swedesburg Lutheran is the church Heidi grew up in and the church where both her sisters and her parents were married! Pink isn't a color many guys can pull off, but the Neal and his dudes made pink bow ties look downright debonair. The bridesmaids held their own with pink umbrellas that made playing in the rain look like more fun than a bucket of kittens. After the ceremony the wedding party rode a party bus into Mt. Pleasant for a reception at Iowa Wesleyan College Social Hall, making a stop for some group photos along the way. The selection of favorite images below convey the emotions of the day better than our words. Heidi and Neal were a fantastic couple to work with and we wish them many blessings in their marriage!

Wedding Ideas: Hanging Flower Pots

For a garden party style wedding we just loved LibAllen Floral's vision. Her warm color choices were spot on, complementing both the deep fuchsia bridesmaid dresses and the chartreuse tones the grass gives out in mid–July. The hanging flower pots lining the isle were breathtaking and later doubled as the center pieces for the reception...brilliant. (LibAllen Floral is located in Des Moines. Julie & Nick

Julie & Nick's afternoon ceremony was at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge, IA. Downtown Fort Dodge provided some awesome urban locations for pre-ceremony portraits of the couple and wedding party. Julie got pink boas for her bridesmaids, which was very fitting (they were a fun bunch of girls to hang with). Julie also had her insanely cute nieces and nephews (3 of each) as flower girls and ring bearers. They provided entertainment and comic relief throughout the day. Julie & Nick took a limo ride to their evening reception at the Fort Dodge Country Club. The reception tables took up two entire rooms with the main festivities happening on one side of the club and a projector playing them in real-time on the other side. We're thankful we got to be a part of this day and wish Julie and Nick much happiness in their future!

Christina & Joe

Christina and Joe's elegant wedding day unfolded in Des Moines, IA.  The ceremony took place at Sacred Heart Church with reception following at the Wakonda Club. Christina's style was radiant throughout the day. Everything from her hot pink heels to the playfully modern decor of the reception. One of our personal favorite details from the day was the customized Jones Soda bottles (showcasing an assortment of engagement photos in multiple flavors) placed with each table setting as a keepsake – we have ours on display in the studio! We chose a brightly-colored area of town to photograph portraits to match the bright flowers and fun-loving personalities of the wedding party. The speeches at the reception were among the most hilarious and most moving we've ever heard. There was an awful lot of love on display at the wedding and it's apparent that the couple has a great support network of friends and family. Christina and Joe, thanks for entrusting us with the privilege of capturing your spectacular wedding. We wish you the best and lots of fun on your marital adventure!
