Elizabeth & Marc's wedding took place at her parents' acreage in Strawberry Point, IA. Personal touches abounded and every detail accentuated the natural setting with rustic elegance. These included wildflowers in shades of blue and purple, an intimate backyard ceremony under the birch trees and programs printed on fans to keep guests cool. Elizabeth's uncle even made tree trunk centerpieces. The atmosphere was relaxed and jovial, a mood enhanced by the beauty and informality of the outdoors setting. The property had several beautiful locations to photograph portraits, which you'll see below. The day was wonderful and we're thankful we got to be a part of it!
Whitney & David's wedding day unfolded at Prairie Moon Winery in Ames. Their day was one of the hottest of the year, but that didn't hinder morale. Whitney & David's excitement to marry one another was infectious and spread among everybody present. Both families and the wedding party were rock stars and let us take them outside for portraits (thanks guys)! Bottled water and fans were provided for guests to keep them cool through the late-afternoon ceremony, which took place on the fringe of the beautiful vineyard. The reception kicked off with a cocktail hour immediately following the ceremony inside the air–conditioned Prairie Moon reception hall. Whitney ensured that the day was chalked full of personal touches — everything from custom made wine bottle centerpieces to a locket on her bouquet containing photos of her late grandparents. After reception formalities we were able to sneak the newlyweds back into the vineyard for some sunset portraits to end the day.
Anastasia & Dustin had a beautiful outdoor ceremony on the terrace of the Jester Park Lodge in Granger, IA, with a lunch reception immediately following inside the lodge. Because Anastasia is a graduate assistant in the photography program at Iowa State, her officiant delivered a very cool message full of metaphors between marriage and photography. The whole event from the flower arrangements to the programs was elegantly branded with brown, autumn orange and green - all with a vintage touch. The vibe of the whole day was very laid back and the wedding party was exceptionally rad to hang out with. At the end of the day it was particularly fun to hang out with with Dustin and his groomsmen as they smoked celebratory cigars out on the expansive lawn overlooking Saylorville Lake. Congratulations Anastasia & Dustin, we wish you the best together!
Eric and Kat are rockstars, even more so than most of the actual rockstars we’ve met in our day. Their personalities exude a cool confidence and they know how to light up a room. We knew Eric from our college years. He was a coordinator for the M-Shop where Dan was a sound-tech and we shared a number of memorable experiences together (typically involving music, late nights and chinese food). When he called us up and said he was engaged, we knew his fiancee would be an awesome gal. Kat easily exceeded all of our expectations! Her personality is a perfect compliment to Eric’s and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed having front row seats to witness their chemistry through our lenses. Eric and Kat’s wedding day unfolded at Snus Hill Winery (the same place we got married!) and they were blessed with beautiful weather for their outdoor ceremony. The following are some of our favorite images from the wedding, mostly portraits that we love because Kat and Eric look so darn rad together:
Also, we feel inclined to introduce you to Eric & Kat's "children," Penny and Fred, that they brought along for their engagement session:
Lastly, here are a couple shots we love from the engagement session:
Kat & Eric - we love you guys! Thanks so much for entrusting us with the task of documenting your day!
