Salutations! After our stint in Colorado we spent a couple days driving through Utah. We've been working on expanding our fine art portfolio and had the opportunity to photograph some breathtaking landscapes. The neat thing about Utah in the Winter is we were literally all alone pretty much everywhere we went (in the Summertime the parks are packed). Our first stop was Arches National Park, where we made a sunrise hike and kicked things off with a self portrait:Delicate Arch:Windows: Intermission: After Arches we spent an afternoon at Zion National Park where we embarked on literally the most beautiful hike of our lives. It was relatively steep and treacherous near the end, but the view was worth it: Here's a peek at the trail, which drops off on either side: We'll wrap things up with a nighttime self portrait from Zion (30 second exposure):
We shot way more than we've had time to edit on the road, so keep your eyes peeled for some more images in the future. If you ever get a chance to drive through Utah, we highly recommend it. Stay tuned for Sabbatical Part 3: Las Vegas!
Sam & Evan couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather for their October wedding: it was sunny and pleasantly crisp. Sam’s choice of decor was sweetly romantic with a touch of rustic and included details like wine corks, winter berries and white mini pumpkins (grown just for the occasion by the father of the bride.) We loved Sam's red shoes that added a fun splash of color to her ensemble. Sam & Evan had an afternoon ceremony at Memorial Luthern Church in Nevada, IA. After the ceremony we hopped in a limo and cruised to the campus of Iowa State (where Sam and Evan met) and photographed some portraits before heading to the reception at Prairie Moon Winery in Ames. Before making their grand entrance, we followed Sam and Evan into the vineyard for a romantic getaway. The lush rows of grapes provided a cinematic backdrop for some stunning images. The wedding party's introduction into the reception was the most enthusiastic and entertaining we've ever seen! Dinner was an Italian themed buffet accentuated with Prairie Moon wine. The dance floor was hopping all night, but we were able to sneak Sam & Evan out back for a few nighttime portraits to bring an end to their amazing day.
