Christin and Paul's wedding was a blast! The day started with pre–ceremony portraits at St. Francis of Assisi in West Des Moines, including some moody groomsmen photos inspired by the Rat Pack. The church provided a fantastic backdrop for the ceremony with its modern, but still awe–inspiring, art and design. Afterwards we took a quick limo cruise and stopped for a few more portraits on the way to the reception at The Marriott. Christin and Paul's chemistry was wonderful to capture. They savored their day to the fullest and it was a joy to watch them interact. Here are a few of our favorite moments from the day:
Linda and Jon were rainy day troopers! It poured most of the morning during portraits, but we were able to find sanctuary under umbrellas as well as in our studio. We're thankful for their great attitudes so we could still take great portraits of them! Rain is no match for great chemistry, which Linda and Jon have in spades. Their ceremony took place at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church in Madrid with reception following at the beautiful new ISU Alumni Building. We took a party bus cruise with the wedding party while the guests enjoyed cocktails. The rain cleared up so we could make a stop on Iowa State's campus, where Linda and Jon first met, to burn off some energy and take some fun photos (see below). At the reception Linda decorated every detail with gorgeous shades of pink, creating a beautifully modern floral ambiance. Overall the day was a blast and we're honored we got to be a part of it. Long live Linda and Jon!
For a garden party style wedding we just loved LibAllen Floral's vision. Her warm color choices were spot on, complementing both the deep fuchsia bridesmaid dresses and the chartreuse tones the grass gives out in mid–July. The hanging flower pots lining the isle were breathtaking and later doubled as the center pieces for the reception...brilliant. (LibAllen Floral is located in Des Moines. Christina and Joe's elegant wedding day unfolded in Des Moines, IA. The ceremony took place at Sacred Heart Church with reception following at the Wakonda Club. Christina's style was radiant throughout the day. Everything from her hot pink heels to the playfully modern decor of the reception. One of our personal favorite details from the day was the customized Jones Soda bottles (showcasing an assortment of engagement photos in multiple flavors) placed with each table setting as a keepsake – we have ours on display in the studio! We chose a brightly-colored area of town to photograph portraits to match the bright flowers and fun-loving personalities of the wedding party. The speeches at the reception were among the most hilarious and most moving we've ever heard. There was an awful lot of love on display at the wedding and it's apparent that the couple has a great support network of friends and family. Christina and Joe, thanks for entrusting us with the privilege of capturing your spectacular wedding. We wish you the best and lots of fun on your marital adventure!
Mindy and Pablo's New York City wedding was a blast to photograph! The day started with Mindy getting ready at Club Quarters Hotel near Times Square. We had a little spare time to hit the streets and shoot some NYC style bridal portraits (see bottom right) before heading to The Church of Our Lady of the Good Counsel for the couple's nuptial mass. The church's interior was breathtakingly intricate and truly a site to behold. It provided a perfect backdrop for Mindy and Pablo to pledge their vows to God and to each other. A cool and unique aspect of Mindy and Pablo's wedding is that they had no wedding party. Instead, their parents stood by them during the ceremony and their siblings were very involved in the mass and throughout the day. After the ceremony the couple hailed a cab outside the church and we cruised to The Water Club, where we photographed some cool portraits before entering the floating reception aboard the Skyline Princess. Mindy's parents traveled from Alabama, some of Pablo's relatives traveled from Argentina, and other guests traveled from all over the country. The resulting mix created a very fun party! Despite the ship rocking back and forth, the dance floor hosted some of the most quality move-busting we've ever witnessed at a wedding. We were able to sneak the newlyweds out on the ship's bow as we passed the Statue of Liberty to shoot a few more portraits to close the day:
We want to extend a HUGE thank you to Mindy's family for hanging out with us and treating us like family during our stay! It was an unforgettable experience and definitely a great shooting opportunity for us. Mindy and Pablo, we have no doubt that you're going to live your marriage to the fullest and sincerely wish you the best!
Kaylyn & Matt were married at The Plex in Ames, IA with reception following at the Iowa State Alumni Center. The ceremony and reception were both elegantly decorated in white and gold, creating a romantic backdrop for the entire experience. The couple's ceremony was intimate with lots of tears (the good kind!) and centered on Kaylyn & Matt's fervent devotion to Jesus Christ. As a symbolic expression of their devotion to live for something larger than themselves, the couple changed their last name to Christianson on their marriage license. The architecture at the Iowa State Center allowed us to get creative for some sweet couple portraits (see below) in between the ceremony and reception. After dinner it was time for the toasts, and they were bursting with love. It became quickly apparent that Kaylyn and Matt will have a great support system of family and friends moving forward in their new life together. We had a lot of fun getting to know this cool couple!
