Megan & Kyle's wedding took place on a crisp autumn day in Atlantic, IA. We can't remember a moment when Megan didn't have a smile on her face and it was such a joy to document her relationship with Kyle! We loved Megan's peacock feather theme and the bright touches of teal and purple carried throughout the garments and decor. Their ceremony took place at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with reception following at the Cass County Memorial Building. Megan & Kyle's engagement session was also quite memorable and you can see highlights from it here. Please enjoy a few of our favorite moments from the day:
Instead of spending a fortune on cake that tastes blah, go for quality and have a variety of flavors. Decorate them to look appetizing instead of using fondant (which is really only for show.) The cakes pictured below were decorated according to their flavor, so everyone could easily pick their favorites. Utilize the natural beauty of fruit, nuts, and chocolate shavings for quick and easy decorating. You can also tie in a family recipe or two as a way to get more of the family involved. Dijana and Regan's intimate outdoor ceremony was held at Reiman Gardens at sunset. The celebration was a small gathering of family and close friends. Dijana's choice of yellow Calla Lillys for her bouquet and decoration created a beautifully subtle accent to the natural backdrops of the day's events. For wedding party, the couple had only a Best Man and Maid of Honor (both siblings) which further enhanced the intimacy of the occasion and enabled them to be more family focused. Pre-ceremony we photographed Dijana and Regan's First Look followed by their portraits on a scenic bike path where the couple frequently takes walks. Dijana brought a bright red, old-school bicycle that made for some stellar photographs! The reception (also at Reiman) consisted of an indoor seating area connected to an outdoor dance floor. The food was catered by The Cafe (the best restaurant in Ames!) and included hors d'oeuvres, drinks, dinner and dessert. It was an unbelievably delicious spread that still has us talking about it :) The day was truly a joyous occasion to photograph. Dijana and Regan - we wish you all the best as you move forward in your life together and kick some marital butt!
Kaylyn & Matt were married at The Plex in Ames, IA with reception following at the Iowa State Alumni Center. The ceremony and reception were both elegantly decorated in white and gold, creating a romantic backdrop for the entire experience. The couple's ceremony was intimate with lots of tears (the good kind!) and centered on Kaylyn & Matt's fervent devotion to Jesus Christ. As a symbolic expression of their devotion to live for something larger than themselves, the couple changed their last name to Christianson on their marriage license. The architecture at the Iowa State Center allowed us to get creative for some sweet couple portraits (see below) in between the ceremony and reception. After dinner it was time for the toasts, and they were bursting with love. It became quickly apparent that Kaylyn and Matt will have a great support system of family and friends moving forward in their new life together. We had a lot of fun getting to know this cool couple!
