Tai and John's wedding was a much anticipated wedding for us to photograph! John's father is Indian and Tai is Nigerian, so the wedding brought several cultures together. Their rehearsal dinner was Nigerian themed with authentic food an clothing. The wedding, held at at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Nevada, IA, was a traditional American ceremony and the reception, held at at Reiman Gardens in Ames, was a culmination of all cultures with Tai changing out of her wedding gown and into an Indian Sari, gifted to her by John's aunts (seen on the top right). When the couple was together their laughter was insatiable. Their senses of humor are second to none (a trait they seem to have picked up from their parents) which made them favorite subjects to photograph. Last, but not least, John and Tai LOVE ultimate frisbee! They met while playing on the Ultimate team at Iowa State and they still play to this day - in fact they left shortly after their wedding to compete at the Worlds in Prague. They even had custom discs printed and distributed them to guests as a party favor! Here are a few of our favorites from the day:
Instead of having an engagement session, Tai and John opted for a Trash The Dress session so we met up post-wedding and played a little frisbee. Here's a small smackeral of the results (and yes - she really dove for a disc in her wedding dress, and no - she didn't ruin it):
To go out with a bang here's a shot of the couple with their frisbee team from their wedding reception. Crazy cool bunch of people!
